Ride In Style

Welcome to Ride In Style

Welcome to Ride In Style Saddlery. I hope that you will take a look around my website and maybe visit my shop, I am sure that I can find something you will be interested in.

My name is Stephen Hardy and I opened Ride in Style in Cleadon Village 11 years ago. Previous to that I worked for Jeffries the saddle makers, and as part of my job I visited many saddlery and tack shops and I started to build a picture in my head of the type of shop that I would like to own.

We are open 7 days a week, 10am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm Saturday and 11am - 4pm Sunday. If you do need something in a hurry we will stay open untill you get here, just give us a ring and let us know, we will try and do our best for you.

I am ably assisted by Pat who has a wealth of experience with horses, and between us we will strive to provide a service that is second to none.

I was interested in Horses from a young age and I am still a keen horseman and I have competed successfully on many horses in all disciplines - dressage, show jumping, cross country and eventing.

Bazil and I at Tittlington

Eventing is my first love and I rode at intermediate level as a youth, I also enjoy doing all the riding club activities and I have represented my home club of Bedlington & Blyth Riding Club as well as the Bay Riding Club at various championships.

My current horse Bazil, posh name Lorton Imprint, (pictured above) he is 17hh and a 3/4 bred bay gelding by the stallion Lorton Footprint. He is a lovely character and is always eager to please, if sometimes a little too eager, in our last dressage test he cantered up the centre line to a lovely square halt, the judge commented "not required at this level".

We had a good season eventing last year and we won a P.N. section at Houghall Horse Trials which was rather apt as Ride In Style supplies the equine unit at Houghall as well as the equine unit at Kirkley Hall agricultural collage near Ponteland.

Ride In Style also sponsors the Kirkley Project horse competition where second year students are given a horse to look after. They care for the horse, keeping records of the shoeing worming and feed, and then they write a project on the horse and what their achievements were. The students are assessed 4 time during the year and a trophy is given to the best. I do think it is so important to encourage and support the students as some will end up working in the equine world.
